Preparation for Worship

African Psalm
Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations.
Luke 24:46-47 (ESV)

Call to Worship

Psalm 72:8, 11, 17-18 (ESV)

(As God’s Word calls us to worship, let’s shout these words to one another recognizing that our worship is a response to God’s gracious call.)

Leader:
May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!

Response:
May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him!

Leader:
May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun!

Response:
May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed.

Leader:
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.

ALL:
Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory!

Hymn of Praise #164

O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing

O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His grace.

My gracious Master and my God,
assist me to proclaim,
to spread through all the earth abroad
the honors of Thy Name.

He breaks the pow’r of reigning sin,
He sets the pris’ner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood availed for me.

He speaks and, list’ning to his voice,
new life the dead receive;
the mournful, broken hearts rejoice;
the humble poor believe.

Hear him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb,
your loosen’d tongues employ;
ye blind, behold your Savior come;
and leap, ye lame, for joy.

Song of Praise

Mighty to Save

Everyone needs compassion,
love that’s never failing;
let mercy fall on me.
Everyone needs forgiveness,
the kindness of a Savior;
the Hope of nations.

Savior, He can move the mountains,
my God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me,
all my fears and failures,
fill my life again.
I give my life to follow
everything I believe in,
now I surrender.

Savior, He can move the mountains,
my God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.
[repeat]

Shine your light and
let the whole world see,
we’re singing
For the glory
of the risen King…Jesus
[repeat]

My Savior, He can move the mountains,
my God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

Song of Praise

Lion of Judah

You’re the Lion of Judah,
the Lamb Who was slain,
You ascended to Heaven
and evermore will reign;
At the end of the age
when the earth You reclaim,
You will gather the nations before You.

And the eyes of all men
will be fixed on the Lamb
Who was crucified;
With wisdom and mercy
and justice You’ll reign
at Your Father’s side.

And the angel’s will cry,
“Hail the Lamb Who was slain
for the world, rule in power.”
And the earth will reply,
“You shall reign
as the King of all kings
and the Lord of all lords.

There’s a shield in our hand
and a sword at our side,
There’s a fire in our spirits
that cannot be denied;
‘Cause the Father has told us
for these You have died,
for the nations who gather before You.

And the ears of all men
need to hear of the Lamb
Who was crucified;
Who descended to hell,
yet was raised up to reign
At His Father’s side.
of all lords.
lords.

And the angel’s will cry,
“Hail the Lamb Who was slain
for the world, rule in power.”
And the earth will reply,
“You shall reign
As the King of all kings
and the Lord of all lords.

Confession of Sin

Pastor:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Response:
We have failed to keep God’s law and are deserving of its curse.

Pastor:
All who rely on observing the law are under a curse….Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.

Response:
He will save his people from their sins.

ALL:
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Comfort and Assurance of the Gospel

John 3:16-17 (ESV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Rejoice in God

Revelation 15:3-4 (ESV)

3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

“Great and amazing are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!
4 Who will not fear, O Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

Hymn of Response #441

Jesus Shall Reign Where’re the Sun

Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
does his successive journeys run;
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
till moons shall wax and wane no more.

To him shall endless prayer be made,
and praises throng to crown his head;
His name, like sweet perfume, shall rise
with every morning sacrifice.

Blessings abound where’er he reigns;
the pris’ner leaps to lose his chains,
the weary find eternal rest,
and all the sons of want are blest.
